Home, Sick

Why do we get sick when it gets cold? Do germs just thrive in Winter weather? Ha, winter weather. Except for the last few days, our winter has been about as harmless as Barney Fife on Prozac. Yet.... Boy.. people are sick!! Sniffles, drips, runs.. I haven’t seen these many watery eyes since they stopped airing those Richard Simmons infomercials.

Being an optimist I want to encourage all your sick people out there. Look at the bright side: you’re not at work, you’ve got an excuse to wear your pajamas all day... and if worse comes to worse your body temperature is high enough to cook up a good batch of muffins.

One of the real pains of being sick is knowing which medicine to try. Do you take a decongestant? Do you take a anihistame? Actifed, Sudafed? Liquid, Tablet, Capsule, Caplet? If you take dayquill at night and nyquill during the day, will you travel back in time?

It would be nice if I had some Bible verse to offer on the whole matter... but God seems to be ok with communicable disease... or, why else does it say, “greet thee one another with a holy kiss?” Like anything else, what doesn’t kill us will make us stronger, or in the case of being home in bed, ill. watching Jerry Springer and Jenny Jones.. which when you think about it, that might just be worse than any sickness we could suffer anyway.
