Hot Dog Month

July is Hot Dog Month. What can be said about the tube steak, mystery meat, the processed, partially hydrogenated, beef or pork bi product in a bun? Yeee dogee .. hot diggety dog.. them things is good. I mean, face it we all love hot dogs. We’ve been eat’em since we could chew.

And think about it, no food product (if you can call if food) has ever received so much acclaim. Think baseball and you think hot dog. Kids sing that they want to be an Oscar Meyer weiner. Hot Dogs even have their own Mini Me, The vienna sausage. And some of the greatest players in the history of sports only wish to be called HOT DOG.

The frankfurter, or weiner, or weinee was said to originate in Germany or Vienna in the 15th century. The hot dog was officially introduced in America at the 1904 Worlds Fair in St. Louis, coincidently, the same year as French’s mustard. Shortly after, another new creation arrived, Heart Burn.

The real question that riddles, even haunts most people is? What in the world is really in a hot dog? Maybe it’s one of those questions that, there’s really no answer. Or maybe it’s one of those questions we really don’t want to know..
